making house

this is my room, it is the last to be finished so it's kinda a mess... my mom made the log cabin quilt on my bed that you can glimpse and the rug on the floor is braided material
this is the hall from my room to the bathroom and office and guestroom
this is the office, I have brandon's lobster balloon (lola) on the wall and lots of pictures (I haven't organized the desk yet) the desk I found at a creepy garage and with the help of brandon's mom I sanded it and painted it a cream and finished the inside of the drawers with some old contact paper I found on etsy. (there's some leftover paper under the desk- its white with brown and orange and yellow flowers)
We have too many books! I need to find another bookshelf and sand it and paint it for the livingroom... I'm looking for a bench or something but it will be really hard finding a furniture piece to match the mustard side tables, ricky table, AND more than anything the antique sofa and chairs that were refinished with a burlap.
More lobster- up above on the moulding I found some old home videos that brandon and his friends made but I don't have a VCR! AHHHHH I can't wait to see them!and below you can see a cute sign megan and I found at blockbuster- it reminds us of the boys.
the elephant quilt i started and have not made much progress on... and the hall
the office, still some boxes- but you can see the floor! miracle. there's a dandelion vinyl decal (a sticker that you put on and it pulls right off when you are ready to move) (although I would hardly recommend ever getting one that has so much detail- its a pain to get on and off and I've ripped it already in several places... :[ )
I put antique hooks in the walls in the hall and in the kitchen for hats and towels- the cute black and green beeny are new and are from brandon's mom- she got them in peru!
the hallway- please notice the un-noticeable new filter i put in the vent above the hall. Pictures and a closet for shoes and extra papertowels and medicine.
thats me! in the bathroom, there is a weird [frosted] window... so there are two shower curtains- and my panda toothbrush holder! I got brandon a hippo for when he gets back!
weird window thingy... but cuuute rug made of tied fabric- organization still doesn't feel comfortable in here, the cabinet is really high up and there is only one shelf in the space between the cab. and the toilet, so for now the toilet has become a shelf itself.
view from the hall into the livingroom- that's where i spend all of my time- I've even fallen asleep a few times on that GORGEOUS persian rug that kirby and mom are letting me borrow (since I loved the wood floors SO SO SO SO SO MUCH better than the bleghcky cream carpet.) (it's an east coast thing.)
the "squash" room- named appropriately after the color of the bed that brandon and me and mom refurnished and painted squash orange (pumpkin-ee) kirst helped me put up the records that tyler gave me in highschool- I love simon and g dank. Kirby's wedding rocking chair he gave to mom is hanging out in this room for now.
I wish it hadn't just snow puked all over the side yard because from the office window, and from this window and from one window in my room you can see a cute cute CUUUTE little stone pathway with a picket white fence and grapevines all over- some rhubarb plants and some strawberry plants and ivy.
THE SQUASH BED- uglydoll is keeping it warm for visitors. The two big warm quilts are at the base and they were both wedding presents from brandon's family, I love them!
Another living room view. I mosey by the rickety (ricky is it's nickname) table and do homework (sometimes...) and pay bills and write every single one of brandon's letters there.
the IMMENSE plethera of kitchen space-cabinets. I love the lattice work on the edge of the shelves. I had to shove the wash and dryer into that liiiitttle corner and you cant see down to the floor because I am hiding a stack of christmas boxes, garbage, bows, bags and nicknacks right next to the back door [to the right] and the water heater is hiding to the left.
This is the coolest little ... thing in the house- I love the brightness of the kitchen, it cheers me up [as does food] so this display cabinet is so fun to put stuff in. I have all my pretty breakable things in there. To keep them from myself.
More of the cabinet, and another decal sticker with a peak at the table and stuff on there.
The kitchen sink is a happy place. It's so hard to keep the window clean when I do dishes and all the water splashes up onto it, but in the afternoon the sun glows on the mountains and the view to the right of the window is INCREDIBLE. To the bottom right I'm trying to grow an amaryllis plant...it's a slow process.
The aid of the kitchen- it is so pretty I haven't wanted to use it yet... but I'm sure I will. With my quail pitcher (one of my favorite favorite wedding gifts!)my fridge with the sushi magnets kirst gave me for christmas. and the drying rack.
you can see a peep of the cool magnetic bars I bought at ikea- they are so handy and pretty. more antique hooks for the towels and fruit and junk on the table. OH the table has a cool story- this table was an awesome find- in brandon's barn- it was one of those 90's yellow ish pine dining tables that has fold- drop down sides...? Well, with everyone's help again we sanded it down, and I painted it what I call cornflower blue- but what the paint company calls... vegas. Anyways, I love it, and I am so proud of the first REAL painted, varnished, pretty thing I've ever made. Some cheepish ikea fold chairs next to it and one side dropped down.

Old owls. both cookie jars that I've had all through college. The first one I bought at a battered woman's shelter's thrift store and the second I found at D.I. up in rexburg. the bric-a-brac is william sonoma and the lobster balloon sign is the undeniably incredible brandon.
I left the toaster out this morning but this is the right side of the kitchen. Cabinets wrap all the way around the whole thing- I don't even have a portion of enough things to fill all the space! good grief. The mushroom on top of the microwave is a nightlight I found in the children's section of Target- I bought three or four of them for the whole house because I'm a fraidy cat. The pea-green canisters are from D.I. and have little mushrooms on the tops of them. They were a great find. The yellow bump you see on the metal magnet boards is a cheese grater in the SHAPE of a mouse- which I LOVE.
These are people and things I really really like. And an eye mask from Delta airlines from brandon from the 60's that is brown that he cut holes for my eyeballs out of.
It's a new year... so here's the new gym schedule.
I didn't realize this one was blurry until now but this is the entry table- I am borrowing this piece from kirby and elaine, I'll be sad to see it go, it is so beautiful- but it will also be fun to find more furniture and fix it up to see what brandon and I come up with.
too many shoes.
I got another green vinyl decal of a map of the world, and I couldn't find just ONE space that I wanted to world in, SO I took apart the decal and put pieces of the earth all over my house (mainly my livingroom) but it was really fun to put the countries all out of order, and it is still a surprise to run into those countries when I walk around my house.
This is a close up of the persian rug, it has browns, golds, and a little cranberry, some peach, and some green, and some blues in it. It is a gorgeous rug, also has to go home...
Entry hooks. I like this piece here because its handy, and it's pretty.
Ignore my inspirational post it notes on the wall, THIS is ricky table- its another kirby and elaine piece, and it's really old but I love it to pieces (maybe literally)
Entry
There's a lot of doors in this house...
Side tables from MOD (I found these on the interwebs and they were the last two available so I bought them for 50 dollars each) (what a steal) (they were normally 100 each)weights... under the table that haven't... seen any use yet...
This is the main piece from the excellent and awesome buy I found earlier in the year- the sofa and chairs were only 250 altogether and they were light, and clean. They were just refurbished with a khaki burlappish-colored fabric and I love them. I really wanted to paint the wood parts but they kinda grew on me, and I have NO IDEA how to take the fabric off and put it back on. Nothnx. The painting was a christmas present from brandon- I love this painting so much and It means a lot to me. There's a story behind it but I won't go into that now.
THIS is the most disasterpiece area of the house- it is ALWAYS changing... this is the brick corner where the woodstove resides (and it would be pretty and cute if I didn't have so much stuff crowding it)(but I really like being in this room.) and all of brandon's package stuff lives. This corner is DOMINATED by letters, food, snacks, gifts, medicine, lotions, candies, pictures, cards, movies, thumbdrives, toys, more food and so much love.
Brandon's letters sit in this box and those toys are from home. They are a bear and an elephant.
In all it's grandeur.. plech.
Side chair and table with pillows.
The most puzzleing part of this corner is that I have wireless internet but it only works when it wants to. so- my router just chills underneath this chair.

Well, if you just looked at the pictures I don't blame you- I'm exhausted from typing this thing. BUT I can finally say that people can see where I live! I'll put outdoor photographs up in the spring when you can really see the house in it's glory.

LOVE

Beautiful little house! I'm so excited to get murried and make my own little house so pretty one day! Without having to consult anyone but my husband, and he probably will dig whatever I decorate with anyway. Love love and miss miss you!

Designerfabulous for the sole! I love walking around in your house. It has a huge soul. Thank goodness it has you to love it. Before it met you, it had a dreary melencoloy existence filled with hard shadowy creatures, gaping holes of existence and peeling fasaudes of glory. You renewed its hopeful expectations! Well done! Bravo! You have made a house a home.
